<p>had a herniated disc in my back for 4 months.I wanted to know does anybody know any pilate exercises that I can do at home to help reduce my back pain?Is there a site I can go to to see pictures of the exercises for my lower back pain?
Can someone please help me out because this back pain is really bad
anybody know any physical therapy exercises in general

don’t do Pilate’s, that will hurt your back even more.
I’d try yoga specifically for lower back. I’ve seen dvds
on that at like target and stuff, pretty cheap too.
sorry though I don’t know of any sites:(
I hope you feel better though:)

  • There are a number of relatively simple yoga poses that you can do to strengthen your back. There are a series of gentle backbends: sphinx, cobra, low bridge that will lengthen your spine, strengthen intrinsic muscles of your spine as well as the more superficial muscles. With sphinx, lie down on your belly, legs/feet slightly separated; walk the arms forward about 12 inches in front of the body, elbows directly under shoulders, on exhale, using a gentle forward and lifting movement draw the chest and sternum forward; the legs and feet stay on the ground, the neck is relaxed. With cobra, the hands go directly under the shoulders and the elbows press towards the rib cage. Would be happy to help you if you want a demo at the studio.

  • Francesca here again to add that if you are having severe pain right now I would first consult my physician. I would not recommend yoga or Pilates until the inflammation has subsided. Finally, if you have never done Pilates or yoga, it is extremely important that you study with a yoga or Pilates instructor. Doing a video may sound like a good idea, however, you don’t know if you are doing it correctly and you can’t see yourself to know that. Summary get medical attention first. Be well.
